American Telemedicine Association’s Initiatives and Research

A telehealth professional and founder of eOccMed.com, Behzad Emad is a pioneer medical professional performing med-legal evaluation via telemedicine. To keep current with his profession, Dr. Behzad Emad pursues qualifications and engages with professional organizations, including the American Telemedicine Association (ATA).

ATA is an organization focused on advancing telehealth and the career of telehealth professionals. Founded in 1993, the association includes more than 400 partner organizations and runs numerous initiatives that address issues impacting the industry.

One example of an initiative driven by ATA and its members is the Physician Training and Telehealth Engagement. This initiative consists of a study focused on leveraging ethnographic interviews and quantitative researches to test ATA’s hypothesis that the companies and organizations training clinicians on the efficient use of telehealth notice the most benefits and clinician buy-in numbers.

Another ATA initiative to advance the telehealth industry is The Future of Virtual Telehealth, a research focused on predicting virtual care’s future. By conducting interviews, data surveys, and analysis, this ATA initiative focuses on understanding how remote monitoring, virtual visits and consults, integration activities, and care coordination will evolve to meet the demands of the upcoming patient-centric healthcare system.

ATA Welcomes Waiving of Telehealth Restrictions for Coronavirus

With 26 years of experience as a physician, Dr. Behzad Emad is the medical director of eOccMed.com, a telehealth firm that he established in 2016. Alongside this, Dr. Behzad Emad is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Telehealth Association (ATA), which focuses on advancing education and legislation in the area.

The group has responded to congressional measures to tackle the COVID-19 virus, also known as the Coronavirus, which includes a funding package for Medicare beneficiaries. As the ATA notes, the response waives restrictions focused on telehealth companies, with the move likely to reduce person-to-person contact, which is how the virus is spread.

Speaking about the measures, ATA CEO Ann Mond Johnson says that the organization welcomes the swift action by Congress, as well as its ability to put the right tools in medical professionals’ hands, such as telehealth and telemedicine. She also highlights that ATA members are working to keep patients safe, as well as health care workers.
