ATA Welcomes Waiving of Telehealth Restrictions for Coronavirus

With 26 years of experience as a physician, Dr. Behzad Emad is the medical director of eOccMed.com, a telehealth firm that he established in 2016. Alongside this, Dr. Behzad Emad is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Telehealth Association (ATA), which focuses on advancing education and legislation in the area.

The group has responded to congressional measures to tackle the COVID-19 virus, also known as the Coronavirus, which includes a funding package for Medicare beneficiaries. As the ATA notes, the response waives restrictions focused on telehealth companies, with the move likely to reduce person-to-person contact, which is how the virus is spread.

Speaking about the measures, ATA CEO Ann Mond Johnson says that the organization welcomes the swift action by Congress, as well as its ability to put the right tools in medical professionals’ hands, such as telehealth and telemedicine. She also highlights that ATA members are working to keep patients safe, as well as health care workers.
